I just want to say I've really enjoyed reliving the whole saga through your entries--you have such a knack for putting these things into words--and I definitely agree with your conclusion. There are all these presumptions about what Sox fans "really" care about, and they all come from a weird premise that we're somehow more invested in some kind of grand historical arc than just liking the team and the players, becase they're likable--nay, lovable--and wanting them to win the way all fans do.
