It's pretty sad when the highlight of the game for your team is, hey, at least we weren't no-hit!
That said, of course it was the Happy Scrappy Hero Pup who did it. Of course.
I can't say that I've totally given up on the Red Sox - there are still a couple of days for roster moves to happen, and once the trading deadline is passed and the Manny situation is resolved (one way or another) things could gel again. But right now this feels like a team that's teetering on the fence, and I'm not sure which way they'll go.
Meanwhile, I know this has been the case a couple times over the last four years, but the Angels certainly seem to be for real this season. Like, really for real. In fact, I would say it even seems they've got a certain spark about them. And they're playing Boston hard this year. Like they've got something to prove. Between the little chip on their shoulder and a roster finally stocked with a good balance of hitting power and pitching talent (Mark Texeira is just piling on at this point, as far as I'm concerned), they look like they've got everything it takes.
P.S. I would swear that Buchholz was wearing Josh Beckett's hemp necklace around his neck tonight. Not wearing an identical but different necklace--I mean wearing Josh Beckett's hemp necklace. (If he was, and it was meant to bring him luck, unfortunately, it didn't work.)
