I found this game to be genuinely unsettling. Damnit, if we can't at least find some consistency and stability in baseball, where does that leave us?

I think my reaction to seeing Manny and Youk go at it was similar to what a small child experiences when they see their parents fighting. (Of course, Manny is the Mommy in this scenario.)

Aaaah, Tito. He has a job which would drive most people batshit crazy, yet manages to deal with all the crap - of which, last night, there was a great deal - with humour and calm.

In a situation like the Manny / Youkilis one, he's never going to be able to completely defuse things, but in the space of about fifteen seconds he managed to pull the focus away from the players and onto Brad Mills, himself and his zipper.

The Sox ought to offer Tito a lifetime contract...

Yeah, I gotta agree with all that. What on earth can Tito say? His own players fighting in the dugout is not good, and nothing he's gonna say will make it better. But if he gives a non-quote, that's almost as bad. So he gives the papers something hilariously quotable, but brilliantly deflective. A++.
