I think Francona said it best when he called Beckett's deuce a "curveball from hell." I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching that thing, especially when it has the kind of crazy break it did last night. The whole Cleveland lineup just looked more and more frustrated as the game went on, and that's probably the greatest delight a fan can have.

I love your description of the pivitol Hafner AB; that probably had me more annoyed than Beckett himself. With the way Pronk was spoiling some nice pitches, I was thinking he'd either walk or get ahold of a mistake again. Then all of a sudden there's this tailing 90MPH (!) changeup and he's strolling back to the dugout looking surprised. The whole sequence was quite emblematic of the 2007 Beckett versus the 2006 version.

Meanwhile, what more can you say about the dynamic duo of Ortiz and Manny? They're getting on base at a collective 80% clip so far in the postseason. That's beyond ridiculous. I don't how much longer they can possibly keep that up, but I'm hoping it's for about three more weeks. :)

Great entry. For some reason during Manny's last two at bats, I was freaking out. Maybe I was looking too hard, but it seemed to me he was running awfully gingerly to 1st. I kept imagining that he had pulled his oblique again in a previous at bat, and half-expected us to get some horrible anouncement today that he'd been pulled from the lineup. Thank goodness I was wrong.
