Title a quote from Tom Menino on Jonathan Papelbon. Parade is tomorrow starting at noon. Jonathan Papelbon and the Dropkicks are apparently being hooked up with a flatbed truck considered a suitable platform for jigging.
But what really makes it worth the price of admission is that we now know that tomorrow is the official day that Josh Beckett will dance with Papelbon, as he has also promised the people*. And then Beth's life will officially be complete--alert readers will recall I predicted a dance-off between them as early as May.
I expect Beckett to be a good dancer, since he's been freakishly coordinated in most other things I've seen him do, whether pitching, of course, hitting home runs, or attempting to catch the ball with his feet.
But my money's still on Papelbon. To lift a phrase from one of Josh's press conferences, he wants it more.
*That link contains video evidence of Beckett's promise, but you have to scroll down a bit to the third video from the bottom; this one contains video evidence that Papelbon is holding Beckett to his word. (And yes, I have been so afraid they'll say "just kidding" that I am marshaling evidence of the agreement in case it doesn't happen, and we have to mount a class-action lawsuit or something.)
