Papi coming back to the lineup will not suddenly solve all of the Sox' woes - it won't magically cure Lester or help Papelbon's shoulder heal quickly - but I can't help but feel that we need to see him back out there on the field again. If there is one player that can single-handedly re-charge the batteries of Red Sox Nation, it's David Ortiz. I can almost feel the goosebumps that will appear as he gets a standing ovation in his first plate appearance sometime next week.

It's Anne with an "e", like Anne of Green Gables. And I had a wonderful time watching the game, keeping score, and discussing our respective teams with you on Friday. Hopefully we'll get a chance to catch a game together again sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Oh, and I'm glad to hear that Big Papi is back!

I had a wonderful time at the game, too, and I have to agree with Iain that somehow, even when Papi isn't putting up numbers, his prescence is like a mystical force that single-handedly yanks Red Sox Nation out of despair and into hope. But, then again, that's what being a Sox fan is all about, isn't it? Those extreme highs and lows. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, it does, in fact, get worse-- but two days later, there's Tavarez and KASON GABBARD (wtf?) and Tek and Papi. And it starts all over again.
